Ingredients

  • 2-3 soft Medjool dates (pits removed)
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 large frozen banana (chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • A pinch of cinnamon for garnish
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional, for extra chill)

Method

  1. If using harder dates, roughly chop them, cover with 1/4 cup almond milk, and let sit for 20-30 minutes to soften.
  2. Place the softened dates (or fresh dates), frozen banana, and 1 cup almond milk into a high-speed blender.
  3. Add vanilla extract and ice cubes if desired. Blend until as smooth as possible, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. Pour into a glass and garnish with a pinch of cinnamon before serving immediately.

Notes

- Use very ripe, soft Medjool dates for the best flavor and easiest blending. If yours are firm, a quick soak in warm water can soften them.
- For an extra thick shake, add a few ice cubes before blending.
- Don't skip the frozen banana; it's key for the creamy, cold texture without needing extra ice that could water it down.
- This shake is best enjoyed immediately. While you can store leftovers in the fridge for a few hours, the texture might change slightly.
